One of many projects, as it goes, but the one I'm actively working on.
It's a short parody, and I'm fusing all I've learnt in the past few years working in animation, as well as illustration.
Since I've been working with increasingly complicated 2d rigs, I though "hang on, I can use illustrations for this, it doesn't have to be simple shapes". And so, I became ambitious. Complex 2d rig, with each piece printed and shaded/textured with pencil work.
I've almost finished with the rigs, and will soon be doing the illustrations.
The part I don't look forward to is rendering all the bits individually (I'm using opentoonz and it tends to have trouble rendering the plastic tool), and Backgrounds because it's been too long since I've digitally painted...
